Horton Plains & World’s End

Why it’s popular: Famous for the plateau hike through grasslands and cloud forest leading to World’s End, a dramatic cliff with a 900 m drop.

Trail length: Around 9 km loop.

Best time: Early morning for clear views.

Knuckles Mountain Range (Kandy)

Why it’s popular: UNESCO World Heritage Site with rugged peaks, waterfalls, rivers, and diverse flora & fauna. Perfect for nature lovers and adventure trekkers.

Trails: Multiple trails from easy walks to multi-day treks.

Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada)

Why it’s popular: One of the most sacred mountains in Sri Lanka, famous for the “Sri Pada” (sacred footprint) at its summit. Pilgrims and travelers climb mostly at night to witness the breathtaking sunrise.

Best time: December – May (pilgrim season).

Ella Rock

Why it’s popular: A moderately challenging hike in Ella offering panoramic views of tea plantations, Ella town, and surrounding valleys.

Highlight: Sunrise views are incredible.

Difficulty: Medium – around 2–3 hours hike.

Little Adam’s Peak (Ella)
