Seven days, one island, and no wasted hours. This journey moves from the coast to the cultural heartland, up into the tea hills, and back down to the sea with a private driver-guide who knows which roads are worth taking. You'll climb an ancient rock fortress at sunrise, ride one of the world's most beautiful train routes, meet elephants in the wild, and end among the ramparts of a Dutch colonial fort.
DAY 01
Arrival → Negombo
We meet you at Bandaranaike International Airport and drive twenty minutes to Negombo close enough that you're at the beach before
jet lag hits. The rest of the day is yours: swim, sleep, or walk the shore as the fishing fleet comes in.
Optional: Negombo Lagoon and the old Dutch Canal by boat.

DAY 02
Negombo → Sigiriya
An early start at the Negombo fish market, where the night's catch is auctioned on the sand. Then north to Sigiriya, stopping at a village
for a home-cooked Sri Lankan lunch. In the afternoon, we climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a 5th-century palace built atop a 200-metre column of rock.
Optional: Traditional Ayurvedic massage.

DAY 03
Sigiriya → Kandy
On the way south we stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple, five caves of painted ceilings and 150 Buddha statues carved into the rock two thousand years ago. Afternoon in Kandy, ending at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic during evening puja, when the drummers play.
Optional: Kandyan cultural dance and fire-walking performance.

DAY 04
Kandy → Nuwara Eliya
The drive into the hill country is the attraction climbing through tea estates and past Ramboda Falls into cool air and mist. We visit a working tea factory to see how the leaf becomes the cup, then arrive in Nuwara Eliya, a town of mock-Tudor cottages the British built to feel like home.
Optional: High tea at the Grand Hotel; a walk around Gregory Lake.

DAY 05
Nuwara Eliya → Ella
The train from Nanu Oya to Ella is routinely called one of the great rail journeys in the world Two hours through tea terraces, tunnels, and cloud. Your driver meets you at the other end. Afternoon at the Nine Arch Bridge, a colonial-era viaduct standing in the middle of the jungle.
Optional: Hike Little Adam's Peak for sunset.
Overnight: Ella
DAY 06
Ella → Udawalawe
A stop at Ravana Falls on the way down from the hills, then plains instead of mountains. Afternoon jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park the most reliable place in Sri Lanka to see wild elephants, with herds of fifty or more at the reservoir.

DAY 07
Udawalawe → Galle → Departure
A coastal drive west to Galle Fort, a walled Dutch trading port from 1663 that's still lived in. From there we take you to the airport, or drop you at a beach hotel if you're staying on. Note: this is a full driving day tell us your flight time and we can reshape the last two days if needed.
Optional: Bentota River boat safari, turtle hatchery, or water sports.
